·        Short history about the development of Pencak Silat Pusak Mande a Muda School of martial arts.

Pencak Silat Pusaka Mande Muda established in 28 September 2002, which based on the basic principles and the norm of “pencak silat Mande Muda”. It is created by “bapak Uyuh Suwanda and bapak Herman Suwanda (the first Suwanda’s son)”, Because of that reason in order to keep the appereance of the principles in the past, bapak E.Tholib. RH and Ibu Ike Ineke Suwanda (the third Suwanda’s daughter) fell need to build a martial art school called pencak silat Pusaka Mande Muda.

 Pencak silat Pusaka Mande Muda is master leads by bapak E Tholib. RH (as one of the best suwanda’s students) and  ibu Ike Suwanda as his wife their both combine the principles, norm and the “Jurus”, i.e., the style in martial arts from bapak Uyuh Suwanda and bapak Herman Suwanda, because it is a heir or a will from Uyuh Suwanda which suggest that all of this must be saved and reserve. But it is not impossible for them to add or create new innovation inside the martial arts itself. So that, the name of “Pusaka” i.e., inheritance, was added in the first name of this school. So the real mean name of pencak silat Mande Pusaka Muda is Mande derived from the basic principles of “Cimande” martial arts sytle, which has been studied by both grandmasters ( Uyuh Suwanda and Herman Suwanda). “Pusaka” used as a spirit and innovative in the school and “muda” means the suggestion for the new generation always to have a young spirit like the great grandmasters.

·        Subject matter of pencak silat Pusaka Mande Muda and further development.

The subject which given to the student is a subject that based on both great grandmasters teaching technique adjoin with innovation from bapak Tholib and ibu Ike so it bring a new particular technique.

In the development pencak silat Pusaka Mande Muda has been spread out inside the country and abroad. Inside the country, the development of this martial arts spread just in West Java exactly in Bandung. As a central, this martial arts first known in Pasundan 1 Senior High School., Next in Pasundan 1 Junior high schools, five state junior high school. After the further development it spread out to Banjaran (Arjasari) and Pangalengan, (both are the name area in west java). Meanwhile the development in abroad has reach Australia, Denmark, Netherlands and United States.

In this martial arts, Uyuh suwanda has separated the levels into five systems of belt levels. The first level is black belt; the following is green, red, white, and yellow by the principles of “aliran” or style from Cimande, Cikalong, Syahbandar, Kari, Madi, and Timbangan. In addition, Herman Suwanda separated the levels according to family system such as grandfather, father, son, grandson etc. He also add the creation making by himself joined with the Jit Kundo material which learned from Dano Inosanto (Bruce Lee student), and “pencak silat kali” ( Mapilindo = Martial arts from Philiphines) and the aliran of martial arts in Indonesia such as “pencak silat Harimau” from Sumatera and ect. He joined all of this material without decrease the particular characteristic the West Java pencak silat itself.

1. leaves = “ngarasa, karasa, rumasa”

       - “Ngarasa”    : become a weak person must learn to be strong

                   - “Karasa”      : when learning something it has to be successful and become real

                   - “Rumasa”    : give appreciates for what has been learned to the teacher and God                                            

             (Allah Subhanahu wata ala) and has to be chair sincerely.

                  2. “Keris and Kujang” = the symbol of self-defense.

        - Keris and kujang are symbols in both of grand masters Uyuh Suwanda and  Herman Suwanda. This weapons also an inheritance weapons like “Keris” in Java meanwhile “Kujang” is a traditional inheritance weapon of West Java especially for Sundanese.
